AMAC Chairman Commends Infrastructure Projects, Pledges Quality Delivery

The executive chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has expressed satisfaction with the progress of ongoing infrastructural projects across communities within the council, stating that he has achieved 90% of his development goals.

Speaking during an inspection tour that covered Garki Primary School, Durumi 3 Access Road, Waru Access Road, Galadimawa, Kuchigoro, Lugbe, and several other project sites, Maikalangu highlighted his administration’s commitment to improving the living conditions of residents.

“When I assumed office, many communities had no access roads. Whenever it rained, people were stranded in their homes. I promised myself that I would give my people roads, water, health centres, and electricity, and that’s exactly what I am delivering,” he said.

During the tour, Maikalangu pointed out the satisfactory work on road construction and electrification projects. However, he expressed dissatisfaction with the ceiling quality at a primary school in Galadimawa and instructed the contractor to replace it with more durable materials.

“In your house, you can’t put substandard ceilings, so why should our children settle for less in their schools? The contractor must give us the best, and I’ll ensure he is paid accordingly,” he emphasised.

Maikalangu urged community members to monitor ongoing projects and actively report any substandard work. “I want roads that will last 20 years. If you see anything below standard, report to me immediately,” he stated, pledging to inspect the asphalting process to ensure quality.

The chairman assured residents that road projects were nearing completion, with most at 70% progress. He promised that major works would be completed before the onset of the rainy season.

Residents of the benefiting communities lauded the chairman’s developmental strides.

Speaking on behalf of the community, Ayuba Isaiah expressed deep appreciation, noting that the transformation was unprecedented.

“For years, we had no good roads or electricity. Today, we can confidently walk on tarred roads without fear of getting dirty. Hon. Maikalangu has brought light to our community, and we are forever grateful,” Isaiah remarked.

He also assured the chairman of the community’s continued support and prayers for his success.

The inspection tour underscores the council’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and fostering sustainable development in AMAC communities.
