Abia CP Leads Insurance Policy Enforcement  

Abia State commissioner of Police, Danladi Isa has led his management team to commence the enforcement of the Third- Party Motor Insurance Policy in Umuahia, the state capital.

Addressing the team, officers attached to the Safer Highway Unit, and the state’s traffic officers, he warned against unprofessional conduct, extortion, and incivility towards members of the public.

He emphasized that any officer found guilty of engaging in such misconduct would face severe disciplinary measures.

According to the command’s police public relations officer, Maureen Chinaka, the enforcement is in compliance with a directive of the inspector general of police.

She said the command urged vehicle owners in the state to ensure they obtained the policy to avoid legal consequences.

However, while speaking to LEADERSHIP on the enforcement, some drivers appeared either not yet aware of the policy or need to be properly informed about it.

In his response, a taxi driver, Churchill Elekwa, who plies the Umuahia-Ikwuanno route, claimed to have not heard about the policy and called for further public enlightenment.

In a reaction, Chukwudi Sampson, a private car owner, who noted that “the policy had long been in existence” argued about “the reality of the policy or is it just another revenue drive by the federal government”.
