About seventeen thousand applicants have applied for employment for 2,500 teaching vacancies in Abia State Ministry of Primary and Basic Education.

The state’s Information commissioner, Okey Kanu stated this Umuahia while briefing the press on the outcome of this week’s state Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Alex Otti.

He said the shortlisted candidates would be subjected to a computer-based test after which those who passed such a test would attend an oral interview.

“It is after that process that they will be recruited. But, what is key here is that in all these the exercise will be merit-based and transparent,” he said.
