President Bola Tinubu, on Thursday, appointed Prof. Patricia Manko Lar as Acting Vice Chancellor of the Yakubu Gowon University Abuja (formerly known as University of Abuja), for a six-month term.
This was contained in a statement signed by presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, announcing leadership changes at some federal universities.

1. Prof Patricia Lar was born on January 1, 1964, in Langtang, Langtang North Local Government of Plateau State.
2. She is an alumnus of the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where she studied Microbiology for her Bachelor of Science degree (B.Sc. Hons) and graduated in 1986.
3. Prof Patricia Lar was appointed as professor of Medical Microbiology by the University of Jos, Plateau State, on October 1, 2015, after bagging her Doctorate degree from the College of Medicine, University of Lagos earlier in 1998, the same institution where she had her Master’s degree in 1989.

The new Acting VC is a member of many professional bodies including Parasitology and Public Health Society of Nigeria (PPSN), Nigerian Association of Medical Scientists (NAMS), Nigerian Association of Women Academics (NAWACS), Nigerian Society for Microbiology (NSM), American Society for Microbiology (ASM), Third World Organisation of Women in Science (TWOS) and Member and Secretary General, West African Research and Innovation Management Association (WARIMA).
