Dr Funmi Babington-Ashaye, former President of the Chartered Institute of Insurance Nigeria (CIIN) and CEO of Risk Analyst Insurance Brokers is celebrated for her illustrious career and transformative contributions to Nigeria’s insurance sector.

As she marked her 60th birthday, industry leaders, colleagues, and friends gathered to honour her remarkable achievements and unwavering commitment to advancing the insurance industry.

Speaking at the 60th thanksgiving service of the, the presiding pastor of Redeemed Christian Church Of God (Christ The King Parish), Pastor Tunde Netufo, described the Insurance expert as a quintessential professional whose impact is far-reaching in her chosen career and her service to humanity.

He noted that the selfless act of the sexagenarian, with its humility and spirituality, is well recognised in the vineyard, as she has displayed a total commitment to not just man’s duty but also God’s.

He highlighted her core values of determination and service, a rare gift. Even through life challenges, she remained committed and steadfast, making impacts through her work and passion for humanity.

He prayed for her continued happiness, strength, and success in her physical and spiritual endeavours and wished her a future filled with new adventures and good health.

Many attest to her unwavering dedication and innovative spirit, which have reshaped Nigeria’s insurance landscape. Her policies and reforms have propelled the profession to global standards, earning her widespread recognition as a transformative leader in the sector.

Consequently, the event served as a platform for insurance practitioners, colleagues, and friends to celebrate Dr. Babington-Ashaye’s trailblazing career and her far-reaching impact on the industry.

Employees of Risk Analyst Insurance Brokers also paid tribute to Dr. Babington-Ashaye, describing her as a visionary leader whose magnanimity and service-driven approach have inspired positive change.

“She is not just a leader but a reformer and strategist who understood the challenges facing the insurance sector and worked tirelessly to address them,” one employee remarked.

Her commitment to people, protection, and progress has been a driving force behind her success.

In her remarks, the President of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), Mrs Yetunde Ilori, praised Dr Babington-Ashaye for her pivotal role in shaping the industry and mentoring women. “You have built on what you met on the ground and raised the bar for others to follow. Your mentoring programs have empowered countless women to excel in their professions,” she said. Mrs Ilori expressed pride in Dr Babington-Ashaye’s achievements and urged her to continue her legacy of excellence.

On her part, the President of the Funmi Babington-Ashaye Foundation, Mrs Yetunde Faulkner, also spoke about the celebrant’s deliberate efforts toward capacity building and community development.

She highlighted that the foundation has impacted countless lives through scholarships and mentoring programs, advancing the well-being of Nigerians. Dr. Babington-Ashaye’s commitment to education and empowerment has been a cornerstone of her philanthropic work.

Similarly, Alumni of Lisabi Grammar School, Abeokuta, where Dr. Babington-Ashaye attended, also graced the occasion, expressing gratitude for her generosity and support. Her contributions to the school and its students have been a source of inspiration, reflecting her dedication to giving back to her community. The alumni praised her for her unwavering commitment to the well-being of both past and present students.

The grand celebration was attended by prominent personalities from the insurance sector and beyond, including the doyen of insurance in Nigeria, Pa Olola Olabode Ogunlana, the First Lady of Osun State, Erelu Titilola Adeleke, and Dr. Nike Akande. Other notable guests included Venerable Ladip Ajayi, Bishop Peace Okonkwo, Mr. John Obaro, and members of the CIIN Council.
