The Nigerian Legion has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Amberstreams, an ICT/Media firm in Nigeria, to launch the Mammy Market Trade Fair—the first initiative of its kind dedicated to uplifting the economic and entrepreneurial prospects of military families and widows of fallen heroes.

The groundbreaking move seeks to redefine community empowerment within Nigeria’s armed forces (veterans) community.

During a high-profile signing ceremony in Abuja recently, Major Vincent Abiola (rtd), secretary-general of the Nigerian Legion, described the partnership as a significant milestone in fostering sustainable economic growth and self-reliance within the armed forces community. “This initiative is not only about creating opportunities but also about instilling a productive culture that honours the sacrifices of our heroes by empowering those who have borne the burden of loss,” he said.

For his part, the Nigerian Legion’s director of Business and ICT, Dr Uche Uche, emphasised the Mammy Market Trade Fair Programme’s transformative potential.

“By working closely with Amberstreams, we aim to dramatically reduce unemployment among military widows and create a robust platform for entrepreneurship,” he said, adding, “Our vision is to cultivate a nurturing ecosystem where economic empowerment is within reach for every member of our community.”

The chief executive officer of Amberstreams, Chibuzor Okoro, outlined the operational blueprint for the trade fair, which is slated to take place quarterly and rotate across four key regions—Abuja, Enugu, Port Harcourt, and Lagos.

“We are excited to spearhead an initiative that not only promotes business growth and cultural appreciation but also delivers significant economic returns,” Okoro stated. “Our commitment is to build a unifying platform that empowers military widows, veterans, and their families through expanded economic opportunities, strategic trade promotion, and active community engagement.”

He thanked the leadership of the Nigerian Legion and the Nigerian Legion Women Auxiliary for entrusting Amberstreams with this visionary project.

“We are confident that this collaboration will yield remarkable outcomes and foster public trust and confidence in our shared mission,” he affirmed.

According to him, this partnership between the Nigerian Legion and Amberstreams is a testament to what can be achieved when dedication to community upliftment is matched with innovative technology and media expertise.
