The United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed, has pledged the UN’s support to Nigeria in the critical areas of health, education and climate change.
Speaking at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe as part of her visit to her hometown Gombe State, Nigeria yesterday, Mohammed emphasised the UN’s dedication to helping Nigeria overcome its development challenges.
She highlighted the UN’s readiness to partner with developing countries including the Nigerian government to improve the country’s health sector, education system, and response to climate change.
The UN’s deputy scribe also lauded the management of the teaching hospital for the infrastructures provided and minister of health, Ali Pate, for his initiatives to revamp primary health care delivery services across the nation.
Earlier, the chief medical director of the teaching hospital, Yusuf Abdullahi, expressed appreciation to the UN’s deputy secretary general for visiting the facility and the UN’s commitment to supporting Nigeria’s development aspirations and its recognition of the country’s potential for growth and progress.
