The Northern Christian Youth Professionals (NCYP) has urged President Bola Tinubu and relevant authorities to ensure that the newly established North Central Development Commission (NCDC) is well-funded and efficiently managed.
The call came in a statement issued yesterday by NCYP Chairman Isaac Abrak, who praised President Tinubu for signing the bill establishing the commission into law.
He described the move as a significant step towards equitable development, national unity, and the upliftment of the North Central region.
“For too long, the North Central region has faced numerous developmental challenges, including poor infrastructure, economic decline, and the devastating impact of insecurity,” Abrak stated.
While commending the initiative, the NCYP stressed that the success of the NCDC would depend on the calibre of individuals appointed to lead and manage it.
The group urged that only qualified, competent, and patriotic individuals with a deep understanding of the region’s challenges be given the responsibility of running the commission.
“We urge President Tinubu and all relevant authorities to ensure that the NCDC is well-funded and efficiently managed,” Abrak added.
“The resources allocated to the commission must be protected from mismanagement and corruption to fulfil Mr President’s vision of transforming the North Central region.
“The agency must be a vehicle for real progress, not just another bureaucratic institution that fails to deliver on its promises.”
The group also commended the National Assembly, state governors, and other stakeholders who contributed to the bill’s passage.
