The Katsina State Police Command has arrested 14 suspected political thugs in connection with an attack on a convoy of All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters along the Yashi–Funtua road in Malumfashi Local Government Area of the state.
The attack, which occurred on Wednesday as the convoy was heading to Funtua for a campaign flag-off, left several vehicles damaged and a female motorist injured.
Confirming the arrests in a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, said the incident occurred at about 11:00 a.m. on October 28, 2026.

The attackers reportedly smashed the windscreens of several vehicles, while a female passenger in a commercial vehicle sustained injuries.

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ali Umar Fage, condemned the attack and warned political actors and their supporters against acts capable of disrupting public peace ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He stressed that the command would not tolerate political thuggery, intimidation or violence before, during or after the electioneering period.
The commissioner assured residents that the police would continue to maintain law and order and ensure that those responsible for the attack were brought to justice.
The command said investigations were ongoing and promised to provide further updates as developments unfolded.
