The Yobe State commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Ali Mustapha Goniri, has officially closed down a two-day training workshop for extension agents across 178 political wards of the state.
A statement issued by the Chief Information Officer of the Ministry, Aishatu Tijjani said the commissioner has while closing the training urged participants to apply the knowledge gained to support local farmers and enhance agricultural productivity for food security in the state.

Goniri, who inaugurated the commencement of the workshop, commended Governor Mai Mala Buni, for his unwavering commitment to the agricultural sector, covering both crop and livestock production.

The commissioner emphasized that participants were selected based on merit rather than political affiliation, underscoring the importance of efficient service delivery to achieve the ministry’s objectives.

As part of the closing ceremony, motorcycles were symbolically presented to the extension agents to facilitate their mobility and outreach to rural farmers across the state.

Goniri said the motorcycles amounting to 200 were for the trained extension agents drawn from the 178 political wards across the state’s 17 local government areas.

The commissioner further clarified that the motorcycles are official work tools and will be reassigned to incoming officers when a staff member retires or leaves the service.
