Gov Adeleke Visits Tinubu’s Ally Akande In Ibadan

Osun State governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on Tuesday, visited the pioneer national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Adeleke was accompanied on the visit by some notable members of his cabinet to the residence of Akande, himself a former governor of Osun State and close ally of President Bola Tinubu.

Although details of the meeting were sketchy at press time, pundits believed it underscored the spirit of political engagement and dialogue beyond party lines.

LEADERSHIP recalls that Governor Adeleke has been at daggers-drawn with the main opposition APC in Osun State over the control of local government areas in the State following the February 10, 2025 ruling of a Court of Appeal.

Opposition APC officials have taken charge of local government areas in the state governed by a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Violence recently broke out in the state when the APC officials, relying on the appellate court’s ruling, staged a takeover of the local government secretariats, a development that was resisted by supporters of the PDP.

No fewer than four lives were lost to the unfortunate incident.

However, the directive by Governor Adeleke for members of his party to pull back paved way for the opposition to take over the local government secretariats across the state.

Adeleke also directed the newly elected local government chairmen and councillors from the recently held elections not to report to their offices pending the resolution of legal hurdles against their assumption.
