The Kwara State House of Assembly, on Wednesday, confirmed two nominees forwarded to it by the state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as commissioners.
The governor had last week sent a letter to the legislature seeking the confirmation of Dr Lawal Olohungbebe and Mariam Imam as commissioners following the creation of two additional ministries by the state executive council (SEC).
The new ministries are Ministry of Transportation and Ministry of Livestock Development.
The confirmation of Olohungbebe and Imam followed their screening at the House plenary on Wednesday.
The speaker of the House, Engr Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, recalled the message of the governor requesting the screening and confirmation of Mariam Nna Fatimah Imam (Edu) and Dr. Lawal Olalekan Olorungbebe (Ilorin West) as commissioners .
Thereafter, the nominees appeared before the House and were screened accordingly.
They were subsequently confirmed as commissioners in the state executive council by the House after consideration of their nomination at the committee of the whole.
The speaker later directed the clerk to the House to communicate the confirmation of the new commissioners to the governor.
