The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has strengthened efforts to foster peace in the region by training traditional rulers, religious leaders, and other stakeholders in conflict resolution strategies.

At a seminar titled “Inclusive Approach to Conflict Management and Transformative Dispute Resolution,” NDDC Board Chairman, Mr Chiedu Ebie, highlighted the crucial role of community leaders in maintaining social harmony.

“Their role in fostering peace cannot be overstated. Strengthening their capacity in conflict resolution is essential for community cohesion,” he said.

He emphasised the need for enhanced knowledge in dispute resolution to promote stability across the Niger Delta.

Reaffirming the commission’s commitment to peacebuilding, NDDC managing director/CEO Dr Samuel Ogbuku stated that sustainable development in the region goes beyond infrastructure projects.
