The donation, which was facilitated by Cisco, an industry partner with the college, was made during a courtesy call to the rector on a mission to impact the students.

Presenting the devices to the management, Mr. Femi Atere, the Sales Manager of Interswitch, expressed his delight at the college’s academic standard, which, according to him, has made it a leading tertiary institution and a more preferred choice in the country.

He said, “The devices are to build an academy that would impact students,” adding that it would provide technology integration, advisory support, and other digital spheres of influence.

Also speaking, Mr. Imoh Akpan, a Programme Manager at Cisco Network Academy, stated that “the equipment, worth millions of naira, will assist the students in both practical and theoretical aspects of learning, which will distinguish them.”

The Rector, Dr. Engr. Ibraheem Abdul, who received the gadgets on behalf of the college, lauded the donor for the kind gesture and expressed his deep gratitude.

He reiterated the management’s ongoing efforts and commitment to manpower development, stating that the existing partnership with the organizations, along with the donation, will enhance the college’s drive to take the lead in manpower development and provide the best for future generations, while also being more globally compliant.

The Rector promised that the institution would put the gadgets to the best use and expressly requested the expansion of the existing collaboration.

Earlier in his address, the Director for the Centre for Linkages, Partnership, and International Relations, Dr. Moshood Ajala, said, “Interswitch deemed it fit to donate such items to Yaba College of Technology for training, being part of the Cisco academy.”

Some of the items donated include Cisco firewalls, Cisco switches, and servers, among others.
