Rivers State governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has again written to the State House of Assembly, informing the lawmakers of his intention to re-present the 2025 Appropriation Bill to the House for consideration and approval.

Fubara, in a letter dated March 13 and addressed to the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule, said he intended to present the budget on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, or any other day within March that the House may deem fit.

The governor stated that the decision to re-present the 2025 budget was in compliance with the Supreme Court judgement and in response to the lawmakers’ call for him to re-present the budget.

He recalled the bitter experience of visiting the House of Assembly quarters within the week with his entourage, where the lawmakers were temporarily sitting to present the budget, but was denied access to the complex.

Recall that there was a mild drama at the Rivers State House of Assembly Quarters in Port Harcourt last Wednesday when security personnel attached to the legislative facility allegedly locked the main gate of the quarters to prevent Fubara and his entourage from gaining entry.

It was learnt that Fubara was at the facility for the presentation of the 2025 Appropriation Bill, in line with the February 28, 2025 verdict of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.

It was further gathered that the action of the security personnel was hinged on the position that there was no official communication between the governor and the Assembly before the visit.
