The chairman made the remarks while speaking at the opening session of training women for ‘Waste Recycling Management’ held in Gumel.

He noted that waste recycling has multiple impacts. “Converting waste into wealth will help in improving environmental hygiene, jobs creation and poverty eradication,” he stated.

Hon Ya’u promised to organise such training for more women across the 10 political wards in the council, urging other council chairmen to organise such training for their people for bigger results.

The managing director, Jigawa State Environmental Protection Agency (JISEPA), Mr Adamu Sabo said, the Gumel skills training was a zonal programme comprising participants from across the six local government areas.

He noted that 600 women were targeted for the waste recycling training sponsored by UNICEF in collaboration with the state government and Waste Pickers Association of Nigeria.
