MACBAN Denies Alleged Plan To Attack Plateau Communities

The Plateau State chapter of Miyyeti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has denied accusation of its plans to attack some communities in Barkin Ladi, Mangu, Bokkos and Bassa local government areas of the state.

MACBAN, in a statement issued in Jos by its state Chairman, Ibrahim Babayo
said the false allegation was that Fulani held meetings at various locations, including in a mosque in Mahanga to carry out coordinated attacks in the during Ramadan.

Babayo described the allegations as spurious and unsubstantiated which were meant to undermine the integrity of the association with a view to portray them in a bad light.

“We believe these allegations are deliberately fabricated to distract security agencies and to enable the enemies of progress attacks our communities,” Babayo said.

He called on the security agencies to as a result, provide protection to Fulani communities, “as we can no longer guarantee our safety.”

Babayo further charged the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division, Commander of Operation Safe Haven, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, and the Commissioner of Police in the state, Emmanuel Adesina to investigate these allegations to uncover the truth.

“We are confident that the aims of the perpetrators is to disrupt the peace in the state. Given the current security situation, we trust that the leadership of Operation Safe Haven will continue to work towards maintaining peaceful coexistence among various ethnic groups in the state,” MACBAN said.
