Senator Solomon Adeola (APC, Ogun West) has expressed satisfaction with the huge success recorded in his free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms initiative for indigent students in his senatorial district.

In a statement issued to journalists yesterday in Abuja by his media adviser, Chief Kayode Odunaro, the senator, reacting to the report on the educational advancement project submitted by the committee in charge, commended the team for facilitating the registration of over 4,200 students for the examination, out of a target of 5,000.

He expressed optimism that many beneficiaries would eventually become successful undergraduates after the examination.

The committee’s report, submitted to the senator’s office, explained that the target of 5,000 could not be met due to the closure of the JAMB portal on February 24th and persistent internet downtimes experienced during the initiative.

Mr Scholar Ola Agbetokun, the coordinator of the initiative, detailed that the beneficiaries were spread across the five local government areas of Ogun West, namely Ado Odo Ota, Yewa South, Yewa North, Ipokia, and Imeko Afon.

He added that the gesture was also extended to indigent constituents residing in Ogun State’s two other senatorial districts.

“It is satisfactory for me to have achieved these numbers for my constituents and others who would have been denied a stepping-stone opportunity to access tertiary education.

“Education is the best legacy we can give to our people, and financial constraints should not stop our youth from obtaining a good education,” the senator stated.

He also revealed that a complementary initiative to the free JAMB forms project is a scholarship and bursary scheme for tertiary education students, adding that the second edition, targeting about 5,000 students, will be implemented in the weeks ahead.
