Though there was no official statement from the university’s Public Relations Department, a source close to the university who craved anonymity told journalists in Birnin Kebbi yesterday that four students died mysteriously two days ago, and yesterday, another one died.

The source added that officials of the World Health Organisation (WHO ) had visited the institution last week and held an awareness campaign on the dangers of CSM disease, which is currently devastating Kebbi State.

Another source confirmed to newsmen that the Students Union Government of the university has written to the management of the institution requesting the closure of the university over the constant death of the students by the strange disease, but the university refused to listen to its complaint.

Public relations officer of the Kebbi State Police Command,  SP Nafi’u Abubakar, when contacted, said the command is yet to receive any information regarding the death of such students.
