Lagos, QNET Push For Sustainable Business Practices

As the world commemorates World Consumer Rights Day celebration, the Lagos state government and global direct-selling company QNET have reaffirmed their commitment to sustainability, ethical business practices, and consumer protection.

The Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, at the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA) World Consumer Rights Day event, on Tuesday, in Lagos, emphasized the importance of businesses aligning with sustainable practices while ensuring consumer protection.

Sanwo-Olu who was represented by the secretary to the state government, Barrister Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, noted that the state’s THEMES PLUS Development Agenda prioritizes economic sustainability and responsible commerce. “A just transition to sustainable lifestyles means ensuring that as we adopt eco-friendly practices, no one is left behind. It means making sustainable products accessible and affordable, encouraging ethical business conduct, and empowering consumers with the right information to make informed choices,” Sanwo-Olu stated.

He highlighted Lagos state’s ongoing initiatives to promote a greener economy, including the Lagos Climate Action Command, the Lagos State Carbon Registry, and waste reduction policies, while urging businesses to embrace sustainability in their operations, as ethical business practices contribute to both economic growth and environmental preservation.

Reinforcing this message, QNET’s head of compliance, Theodocia Naana Quartey, stressed the company’s dedication to sustainability, transparency, and consumer empowerment. Quartey outlined QNET’s initiatives to promote ethical business, including its award-winning Green Legacy program, plastic waste reduction efforts, and sustainable product innovation. “Our transition to a sustainable future must be inclusive, ensuring that no one is left behind. Sustainability should be a right, accessible to everyone, not just a privilege for few. At QNET, we believe in fostering a business environment built on integrity, transparency, and ethical consumer education,” Quartey said.

Speaking on QNET’s innovative wellness and sustainable products, Quartey said the company’s recent product innovations includes EDG3 Plus nutrition supplement, ahealth supplement designed to help the body naturally produce glutathione, a key component in cell regeneration; Chi Pendant, a device that shields users from electromagnetic radiation, E-Guard X, a protective chip for electronic devices that minimizes exposure to harmful electromagnetic waves and sustainable timepieces made from 90 percent recycled materials, aligning with global sustainability efforts.

The head of compliance also highlighted QNET’s efforts to combat fraudulent business schemes through initiatives like the “Say No” campaign against fake job offers and human trafficking, as well as the Direct Selling Disinformation Center, which helps consumers identify and avoid deceptive business practices.

Looking ahead, Quartey said QNET aims to expand its footprint in Nigeria by collaborating with local manufacturers to produce high-quality products. “We want to work with Nigerian manufacturers who can meet our quality standards, allowing them to create products exclusively for QNET. This will not only benefit the company but also contribute to the Nigerian economy,” Quartey explained.
