A woman advocacy group, Mothers for United Nigeria, MUN has reacted to the demand by the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) that the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Lucky Irabor, should resign his position.
HURIWA through its national coordinator, Emmanuel Onwubiko, made the call in a statement following revelations by the CDS that there were about 137 unmanned borders in the North, which, were infiltrated by terrorists from the Sahel to commit mayhem in Nigeria.
HURIWA in the statement said that Nigerians wanted results and not excuses.
But MUN in a press statement by its publicity secretary, Hafsat Adebayo, said rather, the CDS must be commended for being sincere in making the revelation, saying it showed the Armed Forces of Nigeria was not silent on the matter.
The women’s group said HURIWA should acknowledge that the security situation in the country had improved considering ongoing intensive military operations across the country, leading to the mass surrendering of terrorists and other criminals.
