Rivers: Ibas Suspends All Political Office Holders, Appointees

The sole administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, has suspended all political officeholders and other appointees in the state.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara appointed majority of the office holders and appointees.

Ibas, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Wednesday night, listed those affected as the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, and the Chief of Staff, Government House, Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie.

Others are all the commissioners, vhairmen and members of boards, councils of agencies, commissions, institutions, and parastatals.

Also affected are all special advisers, special assistants, and Senior Special Assistants to the governor.

The sole administrator stated that the action was in under the powers conferred on him by President Bola Tinubu.

He said that the suspension takes immediate effect and directed the affected officers to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries in their ministries, departments or agencies.

It reads in part. “This suspension takes effect from Wednesday, March 26, 2025. The affected officers are to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries on their MDAs.

“Where there may be no Permanent Secretary, they are to hand over to the most senior director/head of administration.”
