The senator representing Niger South, Peter Ndalikali Jiya, has trained and empowered 100 constituents in poultry and fishery in a bid to key into the food security programme of the present administration.

The training was organised through the Industrial Arbitration Panel as a constituency project facilitated by the senator.

The senator said at the end of the training that the trainees were presented starter packs including feeds and medications that would last till the fish and chickens were ready for sale.

He said the trainees were drawn from all the eight local government areas of the senatorial zone and were divided into two groups with five selected cooperatives of 10 members trained in fishery while 50 other individuals were empowered in poultry.

Senator Jiya explained that agriculture remained a veritable venture to engage Nigerians to boost their income while expressing optimism that the beneficiaries would also make positive impacts in their various communities.

Represented by the head of his constituency office, Alhaji Yakubu Ibrahim, the senator maintained that more opportunities would be explored to bring good governance closer to the people.

The Industrial Arbitration Panel’s representative Hajiya Maimuna Yusuf noted that the beneficiaries would be effectively followed up to ensure they put into practice what they had been taught.
