The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has condemned in strong terms the gruesome killing of 16 hunters in Uromi, Edo State, who were travelling from Port Harcourt to Kano to celebrate Sallah with their families. It said the action was unjust and wicked.

The national chairman of IPAC, Yusuf Mamman Danielle, while felicitating with Muslims across the country on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration, which marks the end of the month-long Ramadan fast, urged security agents to fish out the perpetrators of this heinous crime to face justice, saying that every life matters and should be protected “as we assiduously work for a decent democratic nation.”

He commended Moslems for the successful completion of the Ramadan fast and enjoined them to imbibe the virtues of piety, love, tolerance, generosity and unity in the quest for a better society.

He also urged governments at all levels to provide fruits of democracy to citizens to assuage their sufferings in accordance with Section 14(2)b of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, as amended, which provides that the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government. “Citizens desire and deserve a fair deal from their government. There is no substitute for good governance that will foster sustainable democracy and development. It is time for patriotism, all hands should be on deck in our collective resolve, commitment and determination to build a greater nation future generations will be proud of,” he said.
