Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has raised concerns about the growing trend of kidnappings in Bula, a district in Tafawa Balewa local government, along the Bauchi-Plateau boundary.

Bauchi enjoyed a peaceful atmosphere through coordinated security strategies, making it one of the most peaceful states in the northeast and the country. Previously, Dass, Toro, Tafawa Balewa, Bogoro, Ningi, and Alkaleri, all boundary communities, grappled with kidnapping, cattle rustling and armed robbery.

LEADERSHIP reports that about a week ago, Bauchi Police Command arrested four suspects for the alleged abduction and murder of a six-year-old boy in Sade, Darazo local government.

Speaking yesterday during a Sallah Durbar, the governor said relevant security agencies have been engaged to tackle the problem. He called on traditional and community leaders to support the government in providing security to the citizens.

Governor Mohammed, who was represented by his deputy, Auwal Jatau, said, “As we strive to invite investors to the State, we cannot afford to allow security challenges to discourage them from coming to invest in the State.”

He added, “I would also like to call on traditional rulers to ensure mutual respect and peaceful coexistence among their people irrespective of their ethnic, religious or political differences.

“Let me use this opportunity to remind Your Royal Highness of the role of traditional rulers in maintaining law and order in their domains through vigilance and prayers to complement the government’s effort in this direction. This call has become more imperative now, more than ever before.”
