NSML Rebrands, Targets Global Leadership In Maritime Industry

The Nigeria Ship Management Limited (NSML) has unveiled a new corporate identity, marking a significant shift in its operations and aspirations as it positions itself as a formidable player in the global maritime industry.

The managing director of NSML, Abdulkadir Ahmed, described the rebranding as a crucial step in the company’s journey, emphasizing its commitment to innovation, operational excellence, and leadership in maritime services.

Addressing stakeholders at a press briefing titled, ‘Redefining Growth and Leadership: The New Face of NSML’, Ahmed stated that NSML has evolved from its inception 15 years ago.

Initially focused on manning, the company has transitioned into a fully integrated maritime services provider, playing a key role in ensuring the efficient delivery of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Natural Gas Liquids (NGLs) to terminals worldwide.

He said the company provides essential technical and terminal management services, ensuring seamless energy transportation and global trade facilitation.

Ahmed highlighted NSML’s commitment to excellence, noting that the company has established the Maritime Centre for Excellence in Bonny, the first of its kind in the region.

This state-of-the-art facility, he said, offers advanced shipping operations simulation, providing real-time, immersive training experiences for seafarers, marine engineers, and industry professionals.

He informed that the centre has already secured several accreditations from the United Kingdom Maritime and Coastguard Agency (UKMCA), which is also on track to become the first fully accredited advanced maritime training institution in Sub-Saharan Africa.

He emphasized that NSML’s investment in talent development is central to its vision, ensuring that the maritime workforce remains highly skilled, competent, and globally competitive.

He further explained that as part of the information option, NSML’s rebranding seeks to modernize its corporate identity to reflect its global aspirations.

“The new identity is designed to enhance the company’s international presence, attract global partnerships, and reinforce Nigeria’s reputation as a trusted maritime stakeholder”.Ahmed stated.

Speaking further he said the company’s strategic shift would involve greater investment in technology, expanded collaborations with international partners, and a deepened commitment to sustainability and global best practices.

Speaking earlier, the General Manager of External Relations, Dr. Sofia Horsefall, underscored NSML’s impact on Nigeria’s maritime sector, noting that the company has significantly contributed to shipping operations, talent development, and economic growth.

She stated that NSML’s transformation is a testament to resilience, innovation, and an unwavering pursuit of excellence.

She acknowledged the critical role played by NSML’s trained crew in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of LNG and NGLs to international markets, emphasizing that skilled maritime professionals are the backbone of the shipping industry.

Horsefall highlighted NSML’s role in addressing industry talent gaps by developing a pool of highly skilled seafarers, marine engineers, and maritime professionals who contribute to the smooth functioning of ports, shipping operations, and trade routes.
