Focus On Governance Like Your Asian Counterparts, Moghalu Tells African Leaders

President of the African School of Governance (ASG), Kingsley Moghalu, has told African leaders to emulate their Asian counterparts who earned the respect of western powers by transforming the governance and economy of their countries.

Moghalu, who heads the pan-African graduate school focused on public policy and governance based in Kigali, Rwanda, said African leaders should spend more time improving governance and economies in their countries instead of seeking justice and equity from international economic and political powers.

The former presidential candidate of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), who gave the admonitions on his X handle, said, “The time Africans and their leaders spend asking for “justice” and “equity” in the international economic and political order would be far better spent improving governance and economies in our countries.”

He added, “When our reality is transformed on the ground – by us – we will get respect and the equality we desire.

That’s how Asia changed the game with the West.”
