6 Die, 4 Injured In Lagos-Ibadan Expressway Accident

Six persons have been confirmed dead, and four others injured after a deadly crash at the Ibafo end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State, in the early hours of Saturday.

According to the Divisional Commander, Lagos Ibadan Expressway Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Ojerinde Kabiru, the accident, which involved five vehicles, happened at NIPCO Gas Station, outbound Lagos.

He stated that a tanker swerved its way to the fast lane before navigating to a gas station at Ibafo, and rammed into an 18-seater passenger bus.

“The injured victims were taken to Divine Touch Hospital in Life Ogun state, while the presumed dead were taken to Idera morgue at Sagamu by officers of TRACE, Police and Ogun State Ambulance and Emergency Service (OGSAES).

“The accident vehicles were towed by Ibafo Police for further investigations while the traffic situation is gradually improving at both bounds.

“TRACE, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and Police are on the ground monitoring the traffic situation, which is gradually improving after the evacuation,” he stated.
