Injustice, Inequity Causes Of Underdevelopment, Crises – Cleric

The senior pastor of Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, Daki-Biyu District, Kubwa Branch, Abuja, Alex Ogundipe, has listed injustice and inequality as the causes of Nigeria’s underdevelopment.

He said Nigeria is in crisis because of the failure of the leaders to act decisively on some pressing issues which he said had laid the foundation for most of the problems the nation is experiencing today.

Ogundipe, while speaking with journalists after the 17th Harvest Thanksgiving Service of the church themed; ‘Supernatural Turnaround’, said; “Nigeria is a creation of God. The Lord created heaven and earth and Nigeria is not an accident. Whatever Nigeria is experiencing is what Nigeria failed to do or what we have sown, that is the seed of all we have seen.

“The injustices, the failure to make sure our children went to school, the lack of equity, the fact that we have not been a country of righteousness, the fact that we have not looked over our neighbours and their needs.

“There are some people whose rights have been trampled upon, there are so many people who are in pains. It is all these injustices that have bred uncertainty in the country. The church is praying. It is the prayers of the servants of God that have kept this country together. Everything has its time and season, every problem will run out of time.”

Ogundipe said Nigeria is however relatively peaceful compared to other countries because of the roles of  religious leaders.

“We have peace in Nigeria today because of the roles of all religious leaders; Islam, Christianity and others. They have been praying for peace. Many of the countries going through war, the kind of things happening in Nigeria never got up to that, but it is the prayers of the servants of God that has kept this country together,” he said.

Commenting on the 62nd independence anniversary of the nation, the clergyman charged the general public to be agents of change.

The guest speaker, Pastor Gideon Oyedepo, said: “There is nothing that has happened to Nigeria that cannot be resolved. The unity of Nigeria is the unity of the black race and the prosperity of Nigeria is also the success of the black race.”
