The Plateau State chapter of the Coalition of Fulani Registered Organisations has urged the federal government to establish an independent panel of inquiry into the recent killings in Bokkos and other affected areas of the state.

At a press briefing in Kaduna, the coalition’s chairman, Garba Abdullahi Muhammad, emphasised the need for justice and accountability. He blamed the ongoing violence on the failure of government and security agencies to address past grievances and ensure impartiality in handling the crisis.

Muhammad stressed that compensation should be provided to all victims of the violence, regardless of their religious or ethnic backgrounds.

“We call on the federal government to constitute a neutral and independent panel to investigate the killings and ensure that victims are adequately compensated, free from religious or ethnic bias,” he stated.

He further demanded the deployment of neutral security personnel to restore peace and protect all affected communities, including Fulani settlements, from further attacks and intimidation.

The coalition also called for the immediate removal of Col. Dauda Magem, commander of sector 5, Operation Safe Haven in Bokkos. According to Muhammad, the commander’s actions have been marked by bias, incitement, and violations of military ethics and constitutional provisions.

“We demand his removal for alleged unprofessional conduct, incitement of violence, religious intolerance, and incompetence,” he said.

In addition, the group called for the unconditional release of all Fulani individuals arrested or detained and urged authorities to disclose the whereabouts of those declared missing following alleged military raids on their communities.

The coalition also demanded the disbandment of what it described as the “notorious and anti-Fulani squad, Operation Rainbow,” and called for the arrest and prosecution of its personnel allegedly involved in acts of violence against Fulani communities.

Muhammad concluded by appealing to Nigerians across all backgrounds to unite against injustice and discrimination to foster national peace and development.

“We call on the public, security agencies, government at all levels, and the international community to take note of the continued aggression against Fulani people in Plateau State. Only through collective efforts can we achieve justice and lasting peace,” he added.
