The Bayelsa State Chapter of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) Phase 2 Leaders Forum has successfully conducted its state elections in a peaceful and transparent manner.

The election, which was held yesterday at Domaris Hotel in Yenagoa, was conducted by the outgoing state chairman, Paul Johnson, and the outgoing secretary, Akpos Passman, marking a smooth transition of leadership.

Also, the national chairman of the PAP Phase 2, Ibena Rufus Salvation, supervised the process alongside foreign observers, including a delegation led by the Urhobo Ex-Agitators Chairman from Delta State. Following the election, the newly elected executive was introduced, with Dengo Benin, emerging as the new state chairman.

In a show of unity and leadership, the national chairman, Ibena Rufus Salvation, led a delegation to pay an unscheduled visit to respected ex-militant leader, Ogunboss. The visit was aimed at briefing him on the outcome of the election and presenting the new leadership to him for endorsement and guidance.

During the visit, Salvation congratulated the new executive and urged them to promote peace and unity within the ranks of ex-agitators. He emphasized the importance of collaboration and maintaining discipline to further the goals of the Amnesty Programme and community development in the Niger Delta region.

In his remarks, Ibena advised members of the forum and all ex-agitators to exercise patience with the current Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dr. Dennis Burutu Otuaro. He stressed the need to avoid being used by self-serving politicians to stage protests or cause instability within the system.

He called for continued support for the programme, reminding members that the success of the amnesty initiative depends on collective effort.
