LEADERSHIP Promoting Local Content, Encouraging Youth Entrepreneurship – ARCO

Group managing director of ARCO Group, Dr. Alfred Okoigun has said LEADERSHIP Group, publishers of LEADERSHIP Newspapers is promoting the support for local content creation while also encouraging young people to go into entrepreneurship.

Dr Okoigun made remarks at the 17th edition of LEADERSHIP Annual Conference & Awards that was held in Abuja yesterday.

He said the media organisation was using the Annual award to recognise people and organisations that have actually distinguished themselves in the fields of specialties.

Among other feats, ARCO Maintenance and Engineering Limited (AMEL) was recognized by LEADERSHIP Group for showing great competitiveness, resilience and professionalism for the over 40 years of valuable experience within the oil and gas service industry. It is adjudged to have demonstrated capacity to lead indigenous strength in the oil and gas sector.

Speaking at the reception of the award on Tuesday, Okoigun said he was inspired by Nigeria’s former commissioner for mines and power Shettima Alli Mongunu who urged him and his colleagues at Petroleum Training Institute in Warri to do their best to prioritise innovation, resilience and make impact.

“I am standing in front of you as a result of my local content contribution. That means the spirit of the federal government at that time that was made known to us by the then commissioner for mines and power Shettima Alli Mongunu is working

“And I think this is what LEADERSHIP of today is. You are also imbibing in the young ones to learn from all of those that have been honoured today because they’ve distinguished themselves in various ways,” he told the audience at the conference.

Okoigun said his company is now a local partner to a number of respected organisations especially, the Liquified Natural Gas of Nigeria.” So we are a local content. They have chosen us as one of the three Nigerian companies on continued business improvement on the Kaizen philosophy and this is in later time we’ll also get to know about it.

“So, LEADERSHIP I want to thank you all very much and for all my colleague recipients I congratulate you and wish all of us the best of luck. Thank you very much,” he stated.
