Mrs Tinubuy, who is the grand patron of the 2026 All-Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT), said the initiative would open new opportunities for the next generation of female golfers across the country.
She made this known on Tuesday during the official opening ceremony of the 2026 All-Africa Challenge Trophy at the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja.

“As a mother and advocate for women and girls, I commend the Ladies’ Golf Association of Nigeria for the Girls in Golf Legacy Project, which will introduce 300 young girls to golf across the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria and open new opportunities for the next generation,” she said.
The First Lady also expressed delight at Nigeria’s hosting of the prestigious African golfing championship for the third time, describing it as a demonstration of the confidence the African golfing community has in the country’s capacity, unity and sporting excellence.
She noted that the participation of 20 African countries in the competition underscored sports’ role in promoting unity and strengthening relationships across the continent.
According to her, the theme of the championship, “Uniting Africa Through the Greens,” reflects golf’s ability to transcend borders and cultures while promoting sisterhood, excellence, and a shared African identity.
Addressing the participating female golfers, Senator Tinubu urged them to compete with passion and integrity, while allowing sportsmanship to guide their participation.
