Community Health Practitioners Honour Dr Fred Okem

The Chairman of Yala Local Government Area of Cross Rivers State, Dr Fred Okem, has been honoured with an Award of Excellence for his exemplary leadership and dedication to enhancing healthcare access for all.

The accolade was presented at a prestigious Abuja ceremony organised by the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria (CHPRBN).

Renowned health expert Dr Bashir Idris, RCHP, FIFHP, PFD, awarded Dr Okem, acknowledging his significant contributions to primary healthcare.

Dr Idris remarked, “This award recognises your commitment to improving primary healthcare and ensuring quality services for all citizens, exemplifying the highest ideals of public service.”

The award was part of the board’s 5th Induction Ceremony for Community Health Officers (CHOs). In his acceptance speech, Dr Okem expressed gratitude for the recognition, highlighting his continuous efforts to promote accessible healthcare and welfare in Yala. He dedicated the award to Governor Bassey Otu for his support in fostering socio-political and economic development.

Dr Okem’s journey is marked by a strong educational background and numerous contributions to public health, including establishing health institutions and initiatives to combat diseases in his community.
