Egypt’s Ahly, Tunisian Carthage Zoom Into African Women Volleyball Inter-Club Championship

North-African sides, Ahly of Egypt and CF Carthage of Tunisia are through to the semifinals of the ongoing 39th African Women Volleyball Inter-Club Championship in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city.
The Egyptian powerhouse, Ahly, known for their remarkable record in the tournament, triumphed over Kenya Prisons to advance to semifinals with a score of 3 sets to 1, clinching the match with set scores of 25-12, 25-20, 22-25, and 27-25.

While Tunisian Carthage delivered a commanding performance in their quarterfinal match, beating Cameroon’s Litto Volleyball Club in straight sets, with scores of 25-12, 25-19, and 25-22 to reach semifinals.

The matches which were played yesterday at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Abuja saw Ahly start strong, taking the first two sets convincingly. However, Kenya Prisons displayed resilience, bouncing back to secure a hard-fought third set. The fourth set was a nail-biter, with both teams exchanging leads, but Ahly’s experience shone through as they managed to close it out, securing their place in the semifinals.

Ahly’s victory not only highlights their status as tournament record holders but also sets the stage for an exciting semifinal round as they continue their quest for the championship title.
Fans and analysts alike are eager to see how the team will perform in the next stages of the competition, as they aim to add another trophy to their illustrious history.

In the first set of the second Quarterfinal, CF Carthage established dominance early on, racing to a 25-12 victory. With exceptional serves and well-coordinated attacks, they overwhelmed Litto Volleyball Club, who struggled to gain momentum.

The second set saw Litto Volleyball Club improve their performance, but CF Carthage maintained their composure and tactical advantage, closing the set at 25-19. Key players from Carthage, including powerful spikers and an agile defense, ensured that their opponents remained under pressure throughout.

The third set was the most competitive, as Litto rallied to secure crucial points and narrowed the gap to just three points, finishing at 25-22. However, CF Carthage’s experience and determination shone through, allowing them to clinch the match and secure a spot in the semifinals.

“This victory is a testament to our hard work and dedication,” said CF Carthage’s team captain following the match. “We prepared thoroughly for this tournament, and we are excited to keep pushing forward.”
