The Oyo State government commenced the first batch of payments of N264 million on Thursday as compensation to property owners affected by the Senator Rasheed Adewolu circular road corridor.

The cheque presentation was held in the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development conference room, Agodi Ibadan.

It would be recalled that the state government had earlier conducted an identification and verification exercise for the property owners on the project corridor, after which their property was valued for compensation.

The commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Hon Akin-funmilayo Williams, stated that the Oyo State government, under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, had earmarked N264 million for the first batch as compensation to the affected claimants.

He explained that the state government considered it essential to compensate landowners affected by the road‘s construction, adding that the road would add value to the state.

With genuine documents, the commissioner urged property owners to approach the Ministry for adequate compensation.
