Coordinator, Others Laud Bagudu As Kebbi Hosts Tournament

The coordinator, national beach soccer and president of Africa Beach Soccer Union, Muhmud Hadejia, has commended Kebbi State governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, for hosting the beach soccer tournament final for this year currently taking place at the Race Course Stadium along Sani Abacha By-pass in Birnin Kebbi.

Briefing the journalists yesterday at the hajj camp in Birnin Kebbi before the commencement of the tournament, Hadejia said four major teams, KADA beach soccer team, Badgary beach soccer team, Smart soccer Kano and the host, Kebbi Fishers were participating in the tournament.

He said; “This tournament started in February in Ilorin, Kwara State with 10 teams, after Ilorin, then Lagos and after Lagos, we wanted to kick it off in Kaduna but due to logistics, rainfall and insecurity we decided to do it in Birnin Kebbi with the state government sponsorship.’’
According to him, the four best teams were drawn from the 10, two were selected to participate in each day of the tournament. He appreciated the cooperation and support of the state government under the leadership of Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu. He also expressed gratitude to the wife of the governor, Dr Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu, for her care and support and other donor partners.

The permanent secretary in the ministry of sports, Alhaji Shuaibu Aleiro, also told the teams that Kebbi State had been supportive of beach soccer activities since 2015.

Also, the media aide to the governor, commended the state government for supporting sporting activities. He said the history of Kebbi beach soccer would not be complete without mentioning Governor Bagudu and his wife for their immense contributions.
