In his address at the emergency National Convention of the party, yesterday, in Abuja, Prince Obi said the INEC chairman’s efforts have enabled them to maintain their party’s integrity and adhere to democratic principles.

He also commended the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) under Dr. Yusuf Dantalle’s leadership for its pivotal role in deepening democracy in Nigeria. “Particularly noteworthy, is IPAC’s stance against attempts by suspended Mr. Isaac Udeh, in connivance with one Edozie Njoku, whose failed attempt to hijack APGA, within one month after the Supreme Court sacked him also attempted to hijack the leadership of our party through the back door. We share IPAC’s concern over forum shopping and blatant disregard for due process, sheer recklessness and impunity,” he said.

He commended the National Management Committee (NMC), members of the National Executive Committee (NEC), and party leaders for resisting the temptation to sell out to forum shoppers and wicked politicians, whose inordinate ambition and desperation were prepared to undermine the party’s processes and procedures.

“This resistance to being bought by despairing and shameless politicians demonstrates our leaders commitment to upholding our party’s constitution, values, ethics, principles and ideology,” he added.

The address reads, “As we move forward, I advise that we build on our moto which is compliance to the rule of law to foster peace, productivity, and shared prosperity for all Nigerians. To achieve this, we must insist on obeying our party constitution and upholding democratic principles. By doing so, we’ll ensure that the National Rescue Movement remains a beacon of hope for Nigerians seeking a better future and society.

“This leadership is a new dawn for NRM and Nigerians. We want to build a party that will redress the regrets of Nigerians. For a country so blessed with enormous human and materials resources, it is a big shame that we are rated the poverty capital of the world. We strongly believe that Nigeria has all it takes to be great and NRM under my leadership is prepared to provide a platform for all Nigerians of goodwill to RESCUE Nigeria and make Nigerians benefit from God’s destiny for the nation. We invite the media to join us in this campaign to RESCUE Nigeria for Nigerians,” he said
