Senator Jonah Jang has advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to convene an expanded meeting with community leaders to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the situation in Plateau State.

The former Governor, in a statement issued in Jos in reaction to the killings of innocent citizens in communities in Bokkos and Bassa LGA, said such a meeting would provide a platform for stakeholders to share their insights and experiences, enabling the President to develop a more informed approach to tackling this problem.

The statement reads, “I believe it is important to address a misconception in the President’s recent statement directing Governor Mutfwang to resolve the “communal issue.”
Jang argued that this suggestion stems from his advisers’ inaccurate briefings, adding that the attacks in Plateau State are not merely communal disputes; a known group perpetrates them with a specific agenda.
Jang further stressed, “The President must understand the true nature of these attacks to address them effectively while urging the State’s people to remain strong and resist any attempts to undermine their existence.

According to the statement, as peace-loving and welcoming citizens, they have endured enough, maintaining that it is time to defend themselves against these aggressors and demand justice. The statement calls on the people to stay united, vigilant, and proactive in the face of these attacks.
Jang also commended Governor Caleb Mutfwang for his tireless efforts to find a lasting solution to this crisis, adding that his dedication to Plateau citizens’ safety and well-being is commendable.
