Hundreds of women in Rivers State on Wednesday staged what they called a prayer march around major streets in Port Harcourt, the state capital, demanding for the reversal of the state of emergency in the state.

LEADERSHIP observed that the march, which was held under the auspices of Rivers Women Unite for Sim (RWUS) came barely 48 hours after two opposing groups of women had staged parallel solidarity marches for and against the emergency rule in the state.

The women, all dressed in red attire, with placards with several inscriptions, were chanting ‘We want to see our governor’.

Some of the placards read: ‘Declare How Much You Met’, ‘LGA Administrators Undemocratic’, ‘We Are Gagged In Our LGAs’, ‘Ibas, What Is Your Secret Agenda In Rivers State’ and ‘Sole Administrator Is Bias’, among others.

Recall that two groups of women had on Monday staged solidarity marches in support and against the declaration of state of emergency in the state in Port Harcourt and Mbiama town.
