The installation of the renewable energy signalled the organisation’s commitment to  reduce its carbon footprint to  embrace  energy-efficient technology.

At the commissioning ceremony, Olumba Obu emphasised the importance of transiting to greener alternatives.

Representing the leader, Fred Obu stated that the renewable energy project would harness clean, renewable energy from the sun, reducing reliance on fossil fuels, minimising generator noise and emissions and contributing to sustainability goal.

Obu  stated that the solar project reflected the religious body’s firm commitment to responsible energy use and environmental stewardship.

“We are proud to lead by example and contribute to a more sustainable future. We thank the Holy Father for making this possible,” Obu stated.

In his remarks, BCS project director,  Green Energy, Princess Ibum Olumba Obu, said beyond the immediate environmental advantages, the switch to solar was expected to deliver long-term financial savings, reduce the risk of fluctuating energy prices and inspire similar projects across the community.

She described the project as a move from the shadows of generator use into the brilliance of solar energy which she referred to as entering the “rhythm of divine alignment.”

Also speaking, project manager Chukuyenum Uzoelum stated that the solar installation would lead to significant savings on diesel procurement which currently stands at N21 million monthly, with an annual cost of approximately N252 million.
