Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his Delta State counterpart, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, and the deputy president of Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, have been scheduled to attend the Government College Ughelli Old Boys Association (GCUOBA) annual fund raising dinner in Lagos State.

Speaking in a media parley held at the weekend in Lagos, the President General Worldwide of GCUOBA, Charles Majoroh, said “the Government College Ughelli was established in 1945 with very high academic and moral standards. However, like most public schools in the country, it fell into decay some years ago and old boys of the school under this association have made it a mission to intervene as necessary to address areas of need in the school and stem the decline.”

According to him, the event to be held in October will also be an avenue to honour 24 GCUOBA members with Life Achievement Awards, even as dignitaries meet to make contributions to the well- being of the school.

Majoroh said the association had invested in every facet of the school namely rebuilding hotels, classrooms, libraries, sport facilities, roads and employed additional teachers over the years to address areas of deficiency in the school, adding that plans were in motion for the process of handing over the school to the alumni association for effective management.
