Local sources confirmed to Leadership that the attack occurred in the night around 11:25 pm when the insurgents launched an assault on the military formation.

Although details of the attack remain scarce, a resident of Buni Yadi, who doesn’t want his name to be printed, provided additional information, saying that military reinforcements rushing to the scene stepped aside.

According to one of the residents, “I do not have much information, but I can confirm that there was an attack and soldiers were killed. Here, we also heard soldiers rushing to the base for reinforcement.

Another Source confirmed that the suspected Boko Haram Members stormed the town in a large number, shooting sporadically before launching an attack on the military base.

Also, one of the village heads, who refused to mention his name on paper, said that following yesterday’s attack by suspected insurgents, normalcy returned to the town, as people continued doing their daily business activities like before.

A military source also confirmed the attack but refrained from providing a specific number of casualties, both soldiers and attackers, but the figure is currently not known.

“I can confirm a severe attack on one of the military sides. Our military responded to the attack and successfully killed many insurgents, recovered two vehicles and weapons.

Also, the community leader of Buni Yadi said that residents who had escaped to the bush and were nearby were now trooping back home.

“Let me tell you that I’m not in town, but I‘m now on my way back home. I have spoken to my friends, who told me that. Many people are back home with the return of normalcy,” said the resident.

Our Correspondent gathered that the town report indicated that the military and other security operatives, including hunters and vigilantes successfully repelled the attack.
