Former Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan (Yobe North), has urged Nigerians to set aside political, ethnic, and religious differences and work together to strengthen national unity and build a more prosperous nation.

In his Easter message, which was issued to journalists yesterday in Abuja, Lawan congratulated Christians across the country and described Easter as a season of reflection, renewal, and hope.

He called on Nigerians to emulate Easter’s spirit of sacrifice and resilience.

“As our Christian brothers and sisters celebrate Easter, a time of renewal and hope, let us reflect on the values that bind us as a nation. The spirit of sacrifice and faith Easter embodies is deeply ingrained in the Nigerian spirit,” he said.

The former senate president noted that just as Christ triumphed over adversity, Nigeria has weathered many storms and must continue to rely on its collective strength and unity to overcome present challenges.

“Let us embrace our diversity as a source of strength, fostering understanding and harmony among all ethnic and religious groups. Let us work together, hand in hand, to overcome the divisions that threaten our national unity and focus on the common goals that unite us,” he added.

He urged citizens to use the season to become better individuals by promoting justice, fairness, and compassion. He said the period calls for reconciliation and renewed dedication to the nation’s progress.

“This is a time for reflection, reconciliation, and renewed hope. Let us reaffirm our belief in Nigeria and work towards a future where peace and prosperity reign,” he stated.

Lawan also called on Nigerians to pray for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all national leaders, asking God to grant them wisdom and strength to lead with integrity and compassion.

“May God bless our leaders with wisdom, discernment, and strength to make decisions that benefit all Nigerians. May He guide them as instruments of unity and progress,” he added.
