News about her death broke out on Monday morning.

According to reports, Mrs Shimite Love was allegedly murdered by her husband in the early hours of Monday.

Although the cause of her death and other details are still sketchy, sources blame the husband for her death, saying he is presently in police custody over her demise.

She is said to have been locked indoors for days as a result of the matrimonial crisis between her and her husband, which family members, friends, and others had tried to settle but to no avail.

“The alleged suspect is the third husband. The woman was trying to protect the home saying people would laugh at her if the third marriage failed. Unfortunately, the death even occurred in her own house.

She endured the violence till death eventually took her away. Before her death, the suspect stopped visitors from seeing the woman at home,” a relation revealed.

Her brainchild, the concept of “Sabi-ficate” a rallying call for youths to go beyond credentials and acquire actual skills, became a movement. She lived for development, for transformation, and for lifting others.

Publicity secretary, the University of Ibadan Alumni Association (UIAA), Abel John Gold, regretted that the Asaba Chapter is in deep mourning following the tragic and shocking death of one of its most distinguished members, fondly known as The White Eagle.

“Her untimely passing has cast a dark shadow over the UIAA community and beyond, as we mourn the loss of a rare gem who contributed immensely to both alumni activities and public service,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Delta State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said it has lost a formidable member.

The publicity secretary, Hon Apah Sunday, said the party has not been able to get the actual cause of her death, but said she was not sick until the sudden news of her death.

“Details of the sad news will be unfolded”, Sunday assured.

An activist, Akpovoke Otiti said, said Chief Shemite was a voice for the voiceless and a beacon of light to thousands.

“Chief Shemite was a woman of big ideas and even bigger action”, he said.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Delta Command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed her death but could not confirm if Shimitte Love’s death was a result of domestic violence.

Edafe, however, said the investigation has commenced to ascertain the real cause of death, just as it is confirmed that the husband has been arrested.
