The Kano State government has suspended the April 2025, end-of-month sanitation exercise to allow for the smooth conduct of the ongoing Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination in the state.

The state commissioner for environment and climate change, Dr Dahiru Hashim, said the decision was made after careful consideration and consultation with relevant stakeholders in an effort to allow students in the state to write their examinations without any hitches.

The ministryā€˜s director of public enlightenment, Ismail Gwammaja, in a statement quoted the commissioner as saying, ā€žThe suspension is aimed at preventing any potential disruptions to the examination process and ensuring that candidates can sit for their exams without any hindrance.ā€œ
Dr Hashim, however, noted that the sanitation exercise will resume in full force by May 2025.

While appealing to residents to cooperate with the authorities in maintaining a good environment and avoiding indiscriminate waste dumping, he said the ministry is committed to ensuring a clean and healthy environment. He added that it would also ensure sanitation activities do not conflict with other important events in the state.

The commissioner further wished all the students a resounding success in their exams.
