The commissioner for Works, Engr. Abdulquawiy Olododo disclosed this yesterday during an inter-ministerial press briefing in Ilorin, the state capital.

He highlighted the ongoing work on the Agbamu–Ila-Orangun road, a vital interstate route to stimulate economic activity and enhance access between Kwara and Osun States.

Olododo stated that more border communities will soon be opened, aligning with the administration’s development vision.

He disclosed that road projects previously delayed due to variations in costs would soon resume, as the issues have now been resolved.

He assured residents of continued progress on the newly awarded GRA roads and other critical routes across the state.

The commissioner also announced that within the period under review, the Kwara State Fire Service saved properties valued at N728,478,052,012, a testament to the government’s strengthened emergency response systems.

He provided updates on the ongoing 209.77km RAAMP rural roads, noting that the project has earned the state two national awards—Best in Counterpart Funding and Best in Overall Disbursement—underscoring the government’s efficiency and accountability.

Olododo lauded Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s visionary leadership, saying: “These attainments, no doubt, reflect His Excellency’s unwavering commitment to equitable development, infrastructural transformation and a balanced rural-urban development across Kwara State.”

He also announced the construction of a 70-meter flagpole, the tallest in West Africa, on the iconic Wahab Folawiyo Unity Road, describing the initiative as symbolic of Kwara’s rising prominence and pride.

The commissioner acknowledged ongoing federal road interventions in Kwara, including the 49km Eyenkorin–Afon–Ojoku–Offa–Odo-Otin Road, 83km Lafiagi–Shonga–Bacita Road, 130km Bode Saadu–Kaiama–Kosubosu Road, and the Okuta–Gwanara–Bukuro Road, among others, in the pipeline.

He assured Kwarans of the administration’s steadfast dedication to building a stronger and more connected state.

“The Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led administration remains focused on transforming Kwara through strategic investment in vital infrastructure, ensuring balanced rural-urban development and long-term prosperity for all citizens,” he said.
