Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Chain Management of Nigeria (CIPSMN) has said long-term neglect by government has resulted in the mismanagement of resources through poor procurement and supply chain management outcomes, paving way for contractors to run away with mobilisation funds.

The institute stressed that neglecting such an important area of investment by the government for too long in a democratic setting would further cause more havoc as professionalism, procedures and ethics will suffer setbacks.

Speaking at the 2025 induction of new members in Lagos, the registrar/CEO of the institute, Prof Aliyu Mohammed, advised the new graduates and inductees on collective efforts towards economic growth and development agenda and good governance.
He admonished that service delivery to citizens should trigger strict adherence to professional ethics at all times.

“For so long, the Nigeria government has neglected the procurement and supply chain management rules, regulations, policies, procedures, ethics, professionalism, principles, best practices and due diligence.

“The implication of this act resulted in mismanagement of resources through poor procurement and supply chain management outcomes which paved the way for contractors to run away with mobilisation fees,” he stated.
