The council chairman, Mr. Sunday Ogunsanya, stated this and assured of the government’s resolve to initiate more programmes and policies to better people’s lives.

Ogunsanya spoke yesterday in Igbemo-Ekiti, the LCDA headquarters, during an empowerment programme organised for the area’s farmers, market women, widows, security agencies, artisans, and food vendors.

He said the government is determined to develop more infrastructure in all six communities in the area, initiate youth-friendly policies to tackle unemployment, provide adequate security measures to protect residents’ lives and property, and embark on massive road rehabilitation for the easy movement of goods and people.

Hon Ogunsanya told the gathering that empowerment is designed to equip people with the skills, knowledge, and resources needed to excel in their respective areas.

While promising constant training, equipment, and resources to the people, he added that the council will provide adequate security to enhance its effectiveness and efficiency in developing the area.

Some items distributed include grinding machines, motorcycles, sprayers, chemicals, farming implements,  first aid boxes, vehicle tyres, reflective jackets and cones, rain boots, touch lights, and cash to aid some businesses with the people.

Hon. Ogunsanya praised Governor Biodun Oyebanji for supporting the programme by providing the resources needed by the council areas at the grassroots.

“His Excellency’s commitment to the development of the local communities is truly commendable, and we are grateful for his visionary leadership”.

Ogunsanya, who urged the beneficiaries to use the resources wisely and responsibly, said, “The items provided to you are meant to empower you, not to create dependency. Don’t sell the items but use them to support your economic growth and self-sufficiency”.

Speaking at the event, the state Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun equally urged the beneficiaries to use the items wisely to create economic power for themselves.
