Herdsmen Kill Royal Father, Farmer In Benue

Armed men suspected to be herders have invadedĀ  Otobi-Akpa community in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue state and shot dead the district Head of Odugbeho of Agatu Local Government Area, Chief Anthony Adejoh, alongside a farmer, Jerry John.

Our correspondent gathered from a local source who does not want his name in print that the royal father, alongside one Jerry John, were working on their farm in Otobi-Akpa, when the marauders ambushed and opened fire, killing them on the spot.

Confirming the development, the Chairman of Agatu LGA, Marvis Ejeh, said Chief Adejo was gruesomely killed on his farm at Akpa-Otobi by armed herders who invaded the area at about 10 am.

He described the late royal father as a peace builder, a lover of his subjects and a community leader who all would greatly miss.

ā€œYes, it is true that the district head of Odugbeho, Chief Tony Adejoh, has been killed.

He was killed by some armed herdsmen while working on his farm at Otobi in Otukpo LGA of the State.

He said, despite hearing this ugly news, the Odugbeho community is calm, our people are quiet because we will not take the law into our hands. I have warned my people against reprisal attacks, and they have acceptedā€

He calls on the people to be security conscious and report any suspicious movement to security for onward action.

Efforts to reach Police Public Relations Officer Catherine Anene could not yield positive results as her number did not connect.
